One vellum bound diary from Lulu S. Perry and one vellum bound diary from Frederick Thompson. The Pennellville Diaries offer a daily account of the duties and activities associated with rural farm life in Oswego County. The diaries contain descriptions of everyday labors from both the male and female perspective, and the numerous special events which highlighted their year. The diaries include entries on produce prices, trips to various parts of the county and mentions the activities of Farmer’s Institute and the One Room School House.

Biographical / Historical:

The Pennellville Diaries were written by Lulu S. Perry and possibly Frederick Thompson, both from Pennellville, New York. It is believed that the two were possible married sometime after the Thompson Diary was written and were later found as a set. Pennellville is a rural farming community in the township of Schroepple, Oswego County, New York.
