The diary consists of one bound diary. The more significant entries in the diary include, his daily activities as both a farmer and logger, his brief descriptions of the War of 1812, particularly the invasion of Fort Ontario (May 1814), and his travels to other parts of central New York.

Biographical / Historical:

Orrin Stone was an Oswego County pioneer and farmer who arrived in Scriba, New York with his parents in 1803 at the age of fourteen. During the period of time mentioned in his diary, he was involved in logging, farming and wood working. He was also a member of the local militia during the War of 1812. Later in his life, he would become a prominent storekeeper and local postmaster in the county.
