- Scope and Content:
The collection consists of Cherkasskii's memoirs of World War I and the Civil War; brief memoirs by his father, Mikhail Alekseevich Cherkasskii, who served in the Imperial central government and as governor of Simbirsk before the 1917 Revolution; and manuscripts by other people, particularly G. N. Odintsov. There are also documents of I. M. Cherkasskii and photographs.
- Biographical / Historical:
Igor' Mikhailovich Cherkasskii (1895-1975), Russian officer, Graduated from the Corps of Pages in 1914, World War I veteran. After the revolution joined the White movement in the south of Russia. From October 1918 - in the Volunteer Army; evacuated from Crimea in November 1920. In emigration, first in Yugoslavia (1921-1922), then in Belgium (together with his parents and family).
His father - prince Mikhail Alekseevich Cherkasskii (1867-1953), Russian statesman, the last Governor of Simbirsk.
