Scope and Content:

Typescript memoirs (118 p.) concerning Beliaev's work with the Empress Aleksandra during World War I in the Vserossiiskoe obshchestvo zdravnits v pamiat' voiny 1914-1915 godov, of which she was the president and he the secretary. This organization worked to help war victims and their families. Also included is a pamphlet by Beliaev "Po voprosu ob organizatsii pomoshchi postradavshim na voine i ikh semiam" (Petrograd, 1915).

Biographical / Historical:

Boris Nikandrovich Beliaev (literary pseudonym B. N. Shcherbinskii), 1880-1956, doctor of medicine, specialist in internal medicine, writer, born in St. Petersburg. Was a student and assistant of V. N. Sirotinin. In 1914 - senior physician of the Tsarskosel'skii lazaret Rossiiskogo obshchestva Krasnago Kresta. After 1920 - in exile in France. From 1931 to 1933 he practiced in Paris, among his patient were a lot of prominent figures of Russian emigration, including I. A. Bunin. Since 1934, a member of the Obshchestvo russkikh vrachei im. Mechnikova (Mechnikov Society of Russian Physicians). Doctor at the Russian House in Juan-les-Pins (dep. Alpes-Maritimes); member of the Board of the Russkoe muzykal'noe obshchestvo (Russian Musical Society).

In addition to medical practice, he was engaged in literature, published his works in the magazine "Chisla". He is an author of the novel "Post Scriptum" (Paris, 1938).

B. N. Beliaev died May 15, 1956 in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois; buried on a local cemetery.
