Scope and Content:

Contains inventories, photographs, clippings, and notes regarding United States large cents collected by Bitler in the late 1940s and 1950s. Volumes 1 and 2 contain illustrations cut from standard catalogs and actual photographs of large cents covering the years 1793-1814; volume 3 contains over 100 photos of large cents 1815-1857 with text from sales catalogs pasted in; and volume 4 is the inventory of the original collection with cost codes and provenance.

Biographical / Historical:

Worthington S. Bitler (1900-1987) was a collector of United States large cents. His collection was sold to Abe Kosoff in 1960 and pieces were sold by A-Mark in 1973.
