Scope and Content:

This collection includes annual reports, scientific reports, clinical and scientific reports, and departmental annual reports from the establishment of the cancer center through 2014. As the container list reflects, some years are missing from the collection. Some of the annual reports are confidential, as noted in the container list.

Biographical / Historical:

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center was founded in 1898 by Dr. Roswell Park, an eminent surgeon and Edward H. Butler, the owner of the Buffalo Evening News. The center has operated under the following names: • The Pathological Laboratory of the University of Buffalo (1898) • The Gratwick Research Laboratory (1900) • The State Institute for the Study of Malignant Disease (1912) • Roswell Park Memorial Institute (1946) • Roswell Park Cancer Institute (1992) • Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (2018-present) The annual reports in this collection reflect the work and accomplishments of physicians, staff, and students throughout the cancer center’s history.

Acquisition information:
The annual reports were given to the Dr. Edwin A. Mirand Library as they were created. Some volumes of the Tumor Registry reports were given to the Library by Teresa Reinhardt, Assistant Director of the Cancer Registry of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center on August 18, 2021.
