Scope and Content:

The Aaron Rosen papers contains notebooks, correspondence with poets, poetry drafts, works shared with Aaron Rosen by other poets, articles, and chapbooks.

Accruals received in 2021 include nine notebooks, correspondence between Rosen and Jan Gorden, postcards from Carol Cook, Ann Colley, and Irving Massey, and annotated first editions of Taps for Space and Reluctant Mirrors.

Biographical / Historical:

Aaron Rosen was born in Utica, New York in 1926. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. He taught for many years at SUNY Buffalo as a professor of English where he also served as Provost of Arts and Letters. Rosen's work has appeared in numerous journals including Choice, Epoch, Hambone, Kenyon Review, and Partisan Review. His collections of poetry published by The Sheep Meadow Press include Traces, Taps for Space, Reluctant Mirrors, Proximities, and Prowling Sequiturs. Aaron Rosen passed away in 2018.

Acquisition information:

The Aaron Rosen papers were gifted to the poetry collection by Antoinette Peters in 30 August 2019 as accession 2019-pcms-016.

2021 Accruals donated by Antoinette Peters on December 23, 2021.
