- Scope and Content:
The Charles M. Dake collection contains correspondence, records, writings, minutes, and other related material to the career and life of Dr. Dake. The bulk of writings, records, and correspondence are between 1942-1969. Records of Dr. Dake's service in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps during World War II are included. Minutes and other papers are related to the departments of anesthesiology at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital and Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Genealogical materials are related to the Dake-Deake-Van Deake families. The collection also includes baking recipes of Charles M. Dake, Sr. 1895-1913.
- Biographical / Historical:
Charles M. Dake, Jr. was the first physician in Niagara Falls N.Y. to specialize exclusively in anesthesiology. Cheif of the departments of anesthesiology at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital and Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Served on surgical teams in the European Theatre during World War II. His father, Charles M. Dake, Sr., was in the baking business from 1883 to 1913 at Niagara Baking Co. (later operated by United States Baking Co. and National Biscuit Co.) and the Faxon, Williams and Faxon Bakery.

- The Charles M. Dake collection was gifted to the Buffalo History Museum in 1970. The Buffalo Museum donated the collection to the Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection.
