- Scope and Content:
The eight annual event was held May 6, 1979 at the Amherst (North) campus. Records include memos, correspondence, and lists of participating businesses and community organizations.
- Biographical / Historical:
The first Community University Day was held in 1971. The event served as an "open house" of sorts, with UB departments and offices presenting educational, cultural, scientific, and recreational service events and exhibits. Guided tours of the campus were also provided.

- The 1979 Community University Day records were transferred to University Archives by the Office of Public Affairs, on January 4, 1985, as accession 82-005.
