Background

Scope and Content:

The collection contains approximately 150 newspaper clippings, 19 magazines/periodicals and 23 full newspapers dating from the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 through the days that followed. Also included are print of President John F. Kennedy and a bound book depicting the historical record of the assassination, the funeral and the days after. Some of the materials are dated some years later depicting memorials of the fallen president. Several clippings of the collection are simply photos clipped from the newspapers of the assassination, the grieving family and the funeral service.

Biographical / Historical:

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born in Massachusetts on May 29, 1917. He was the 35th United States President and served from 1961 until his assassination on November 22, 1963. Upon his death, he was succeeded by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The collection mainly covers the assassination and the days that immediately followed.
