Cohen, Marc M.
Michael Kalil (1943-1991) was an interior architect, philosopher, educator and artist, known for his innovative work with new materials and for humanizing digital technologies. From 1981 to 1991, he was the principal of Kalil Designs/Kalil Studio, a firm that specialized in high-profile commercial, prototype and theoretical, and residential design commissions. Kalil also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Parsons School of Design. The collection includes Kalil's personal and professional papers, including original artwork, sketchbooks, journals, photographs, project records, architectural drawings, photoprints and sketches, design prototypes, and posthumous materials.

This collection contains student, faculty, and staff handbooks from The New School and various divisions and departments within the university. These guides cover student life, degree requirements, information about living in New York City, among other topics. Faculty handbooks offer teaching guidelines and regulations, while materials created for international students provide information on adapting to life in the United States.

Parsons School of Design was established in 1896 and became affiliated with The New School as the university's art and design college in 1970. New School Archives staff assembled this collection of audiovisual materials, exhibition catalogs, posters, publications, student work, and other various formats from departmental transfers and personal donations by Parsons School of Design faculty, students and administrative staff beginning in 2009.

This collection consists of administrative records produced by a variety of offices and departments of Parsons School of Design, the art and design college of The New School university system. Included are memos, correspondence, photographs, reports, and printed promotional material, as well as items pertaining to New School building construction. The administrative offices from which material has been collected herein includes Admissions, the Board of Governors, Career Services, Design and Construction, Development and Alumni Relations, External Partnerships, Human Resources, and Student Services.
