The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures merged with the Department of Slavic Languages in Literatures to created the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures in 1994. Currently, German language courses are offered by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. No German major or minor is offered, although students may pursue a self-initiated interdisciplinary major in the subject.
