This collection contains adminstrative memoranda, correspondence with students, course materials, and other adminstrative records from the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies, primarily dated from 1970-1986.

The Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies was created, along with the Department of French Studies, when the Department of Romance Languages was restructured and split up in 1973. Currently, Spanish and Italian are both taught within the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.
Materials in this collection include: event fliers, student work, course curricula and planning materials, departmental correspondence with students, faculty, and administrators, and reports. Subjects include program evaluation, course scheduling and curriculum planning, payroll, and budget.
